Violence of two days and one night

They bashed hard
On our backs, with
Flame and rain,
Lashing, lashing,
Whipping panic into every leaf.
Many more of these sharpened slashes
And dashes followed, slashing
And dashing cowardice into the
Pets of this ash-like world;
Swirling and hurrying the wrecked
Trashes about the corners;
Crashing our wings, our
Lives; crushing the
Days into nights; mashing
Our dreams into nightmares of
The sleepers' hell.
