Taipei

With each coarse grain of air, people lived
Their lives under the plates of clouds
Like summer fish—gulping
Away, as lovers stole tiny bites
From each other's lips. Last night's rain
Cleansed last night's world thoroughly, but
Today remained untouched—'til hidden
And perverse—he, the dark marauder—
Patchwork of pills and capsules—disturbed
The universe, and began his daily walk
Down the street.
