On a train to Taipei
—dedicated to S

I count the minutes of our depart
And hourly pray for the join of hands—
That the pace of the envious clock
Should quicker let me see the day.

    And yet
When our eyes meet, and our palms kiss,
Another favour from Time I do ask:
A moment's delay is all I plead
To steal a moment's eternal bliss.
