We'd have to stay in touch some other way:
No phones, no stamps, no meetups by the street,  
No petit trips down to the lovely bay.
We must devise some other way to meet.
Communication must be close to art:
If at night I should want to write something
To you—or any other dear to heart, 
Then I must disguise! I must say nothing
In the letters of the work I have done; 
None of the statues that are still to fall;
No words on the assassinations—none!
In symbols only, I'll answer your call.
We shall whisper under the code of love, 
And in this code reverse the world above.
