Pflanze mich in dein Herz
Pflanze mich in dein Herz! ich wüchse schnell;
Grow yonder I would in the callow wind;
Terpsichorean beneath the sunlit veil;
Or that berylline sheen of the taste of mint,
The dawning sapour of a tear of grass—
A tear of grass the scintillated dream,
A gentle symphony: a cricket's brass
And the robins make a musical team;
And that obscuring brace of the meadow!—
I would grow abstrusely ... like the bijou
Of one clandestine seed, the deep harrow
Appropriate for the invisible dew;
And when the rain wears its summery coat,
Tall and tender I would lovingly dote.
