Travel with caution

If we are to visit the islands that
Float above my favourite city
Every Sunday, we must be

Cautious: they balance precariously
With their beautiful white ships
Sailing through dark waters

Silverfish-like, agape and full
Of wonders; their bubbles
Burn like miniature suns,

Blinding skylines,
Making mirror images of
False hopes and pretensions,

Only to be pierced right through!—
Stake to the heart—by Monday's grey spires
And the intercity gloom.
