Old pair of glasses

I am reluctant to procure
A new pair of glasses, but
I must. The old pair

Gives me such grave aches
That I can only leer

Through the racked tunnels,
Forcing my right eye to
Keep up with my left

With all its might; pushing
Aside time and brine

And light—accepting too
Eagerly the flooding colours
Too bright for yesterday,

But really quite all right
For today's optometry.
