I, too, would like
—dedicated to Cori

I, too, would like to be held as I fall asleep or
Have the back of my head covered gently

With a warm hand—these gestures
Are anchors, without which I cannot hold still

Amidst the tumult of dreams; but when circumstances dictate
Otherwise, I am willing to pretend

And hold someone else's hand, for a change,
Or pat someone else's back, softly

But surely, and
Be the braver keeper.
